NIGERIA: Suspected bandits have launched a deadly attack on Dangoro village in Nahuche ward of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Reports from the community indicate that the assailants stormed the village at midnight on Sunday, killing and injuring several residents, including a nine-month pregnant woman.
It was gathered that the bandits also set several houses and silos ablaze, leaving the community devastated and in fear.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity during a telephone interview, said the attackers abducted an unspecified number of villagers, mostly women.
“As I am speaking now, we are yet to ascertain the number of those kidnapped, but the majority are women,” he said.
The source added that the area is in panic, as many residents have fled to Nahuche town for safety.
He called on the Federal Government and the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to urgently intervene, warning that the bandits threatened to return for another attack.
Police Confirmation
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said at least three people were killed.
According to him, the attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, invaded Dangoro village through the Nahuche district, shooting sporadically and setting homes and food storage facilities on fire.
“Upon receiving the report, a joint team of police operatives and vigilante members swiftly mobilised to the scene. They engaged the bandits in a gun duel, successfully repelling the attack and forcing the criminals to flee into the bush with possible gunshot injuries,” he said.
He added that three people, including a member of the Community Protection Guard, lost their lives in the attack. Five others sustained gunshot wounds, while four suffered varying degrees of burns.
“All injured victims have been evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, where they are receiving treatment and responding positively,” the police spokesperson said.
