NIGERIA: In a renewed push to curb criminal activities and reinforce public confidence, the Deputy Inspector‑General of Police in charge of Operations, Shehu Umar Nadada, has led a high‑powered operational tour across troubled communities in Southern Kaduna.

The tour, which covered flashpoints such as Kachia, Sanga, Jere, Zango, Kajuru, and Kafanchan, was conducted alongside the Commissioner of Police for the Kaduna State Command, Rabiu Muhammad, as part of ongoing efforts to assess security challenges firsthand and coordinate response strategies.

During the visit, the senior police officers engaged extensively with critical stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, representatives of Miyetti Allah, Fulani leaders, religious figures, and youth groups, in a bid to foster trust and cooperation.

The stakeholders’ meeting focused on identifying the root causes of insecurity in the region, with particular attention on recurring farmer‑herder conflicts, communal tensions, and the activities of criminal elements operating within the affected areas.

Participants at the engagement emphasised the urgent need for stronger collaboration between local communities and security agencies, noting that timely intelligence sharing remains key to preventing attacks and apprehending perpetrators.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Nadada stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among residents, warning against actions and rhetoric capable of inflaming tensions or triggering reprisals within the fragile communities.

He reassured residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that operational deployments would be strengthened to ensure a sustained security presence across the troubled zones.

The interactive session also gave community members an opportunity to voice their grievances, fears, and expectations, while contributing practical suggestions aimed at restoring normalcy and long‑term peace in Southern Kaduna.

Reaffirming its stance, the Kaduna State Police Command called on citizens to actively support security agencies through vigilance and cooperation, insisting that collective responsibility remains crucial to achieving lasting stability in the state.
