Social media personality Flagboy has apologised to the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the leadership of the party, following his earlier public withdrawal of support for Obi.
Flagboy made the apology in a statement shared on social media, expressing regret over his previous position and extending his apology to Obi, Kwankwaso, the NDC leadership and what he described as all well-meaning Nigerians.
“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi and also to His Excellency Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and to the leadership of the NDC and to all the well-meaning Nigerians. I am sorry,” he said.
The apology comes after Flagboy previously attracted widespread attention following a viral video in which he publicly announced that he was withdrawing his support for Obi and was seen burning flags associated with the politician.
However, in his latest message, Flagboy did not explain what prompted his earlier decision to withdraw his support or what specifically led him to reconsider his position and issue the apology.
His latest statement represents a reversal of his previously expressed position as the political atmosphere ahead of the 2027 general election continues to intensify.
Flagboy also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, particularly in relation to the forthcoming election.
“Come 2027, Nigeria will be OK,” he said.
The development has generated reactions among supporters of Obi and the NDC, with attention focused on Flagboy’s apparent change of position ahead of the 2027 election.
