DELTA STATE, NIGERIA – A 21-year-old female police officer, Peace Banshuam Otu, has reportedly been kidnapped in the Obuluku (Isieluku) area of Delta State.

Banshuam, an indigene of Baffin Village in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, was recently recruited into the Nigeria Police Force and posted to Delta State. She was allegedly abducted around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026, while riding on a motorcycle operated by Kenneth Chijioke.

Kenneth Chijioke reportedly escaped from the kidnappers and raised the alarm, according to family sources.

The abductors are demanding a ransom of ₦20 million for her release. As of Tuesday, May 12, the family said Peace was still being held in a forest along the Obuluku road and had been able to speak briefly with them.

Onah Susan Ada-Otu, the victim’s sister, confirmed the development to Credibility News, describing the family’s situation as:

“Very devastating, heartbreaking, and frustrating.. It’s just too much for the family, and for me in particular. Combining this with postpartum has not been easy at all,” she said.

According to her, Peace comes from a poor background. Her father is deceased, while her aged mother is battling a stroke-related illness. The family says it lacks the financial means to meet the ransom demand.

The family has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, security agencies, and well-meaning Nigerians to urgently intervene and secure her safe release.

The Nigeria Police Force is yet to issue an official statement on the alleged abduction.

Credibility News contacted the Delta State Police Command for confirmation and is awaiting a response.

This is a developing story. More updates will follow as information becomes available.
