Pastor Isah Remanded in Prison After Pleading Not Guilty to Alleged Sexual Assault of 14-Year-Old

ABUJA — An Abuja-based cleric, Pastor Isah, has been remanded in prison following his arraignment over allegations of sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl.

The defendant was brought before the court where he was formally charged with sexual assault of a minor. During the proceedings, he entered a plea of not guilty, denying the allegations levelled against him.

The presiding judge ordered that he be remanded in custody pending further hearing of the case, citing the need for proper continuation of trial procedures. The matter was adjourned to a later date for continuation of hearing and possible presentation of witnesses and evidence.

During the arraignment, Pastor Isah was quoted in court as saying: “I am not guilty of this allegation.” He maintained his innocence through his legal counsel, who argued that the claims must be proven beyond reasonable doubt in court.

The prosecution, however, told the court that the allegation involved a minor and should be treated with seriousness under the law. While presenting the case, the prosecution insisted that evidence would be provided to support the charge during trial.

An official statement attributed to court proceedings noted that the judge ruled that the accused should remain in custody, stating that the court must ensure orderly progression of the case until proper bail consideration or further application is made.

The defence team is expected to return to court with additional legal arguments at the next hearing date, while the prosecution prepares to present its full case.

The case has drawn public attention due to the nature of the allegation and the involvement of a religious leader. Authorities have emphasised that the matter remains before the court, and no final judgment has been reached.

The trial is ongoing, and further developments are expected as proceedings continue.
