LAGOS — Sixty-five children have received free surgical procedures at Mother Mary Hospital, Isolo, Lagos, as part of a birthday initiative marking the 65th birthday of a benefactor identified as “PO.”

The initiative, which provided surgeries for 65 children, concluded with a follow-up clinic and appreciation programme at the hospital.

According to the benefactor, the surgeries were successfully completed under the leadership of Dr Folaseye Adebayo and her medical team.

Among the procedures performed was adenotonsillectomy, a surgical procedure involving the removal of enlarged or chronically infected tonsils and adenoids. Such conditions can contribute to breathing difficulties, recurrent infections and sleep-related problems in children.

Speaking after the final follow-up clinic, the benefactor expressed gratitude to God for the successful outcome of the initiative and commended the medical team for their dedication.

The benefactor also said the testimonies shared by parents during the programme were particularly touching, noting that several families reported improvements in their children’s health and quality of life following the procedures.

“Birthdays are not merely occasions for celebration. They are opportunities to give back, touch lives, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others,” the benefactor said.

Appreciation was also extended to Dr Adebayo and her team, the management of Mother Mary Hospital, the parents and others who contributed to the initiative.

The benefactor described the completion of the surgeries as a privilege and said the most significant gift was seeing the children regain their health and hope.

The initiative ended with a message of optimism about Nigeria’s future, with the benefactor declaring: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
