The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, arresting 82 suspects and seizing more than two tonnes of illicit substances across the state in May 2026.
The command also intercepted 2,376 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and dismantled 83 drug joints in various parts of the state as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crimes.
A statement issued by the command’s Press Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sani Garba, said the 82 suspects comprised 79 males and three females, while a total of 2,038.524 kilogrammes of assorted illicit drugs were recovered during operations conducted across the state.
According to the statement, Cannabis Sativa accounted for the bulk of the seizures, with 2,007.571 kilogrammes recovered, while other substances seized included Tramadol, Codeine, Diazepam, Rohypnol, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine.
The statement added that the recovered ammunition, suspects, and exhibits had been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
In its efforts to strengthen prosecution, the command secured 14 convictions and arraigned 19 suspects before various courts, while investigations into several other cases are ongoing.
The agency also recorded progress in its drug demand reduction programmes. Nine persons successfully completed rehabilitation programmes during the period under review, while six new clients were admitted for treatment. Nineteen others are currently undergoing rehabilitation, and 20 clients received brief intervention services.
The dismantled drug joints were located in several communities, including Ungwan Maigero, Ungwan Sunday, Narayi High Cost, Kakuri, Nassarawa, Sabon Gari, Hayin Gada, Kofar Jatau, Mondo, and Soba, among others.
Speaking on the achievements, the State Commander, CN Maijama’a Mohammed, commended officers and men of the command for their dedication and professionalism, describing the successes as evidence of the agency’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in Kaduna State.
He assured residents that the command would sustain the momentum and urged members of the public to provide credible intelligence on drug-related activities to support ongoing operations.
