ISTANBUL — Galatasaray officially clinched their fourth consecutive Süper Lig title on Saturday evening, defeating Antalyaspor 4-2 in a high-stakes encounter at RAMS Park. The victory cements a record-extending 26th domestic crown for the “Lions,” further distancing themselves from their historic rivals.
Entering the match with a four-point cushion over second-placed Fenerbahce, Okan Buruk’s men knew that three points would render the final matchday a mere formality. After stumbling in a shock 4-1 loss to Samsunspor last week, the pressure was on to avoid another slip-up.
Antalyaspor threatened to spoil the party when Soner Dikmen silenced the home crowd with a goal just before halftime. Galatasaray emerged from the break with renewed intensity, equalising through substitute Mario Lemina in the 56th minute.
However, Dikmen struck again with a superb free-kick in the 62nd minute to briefly restore the visitors’ lead. The champions-elect refused to buckle, responding just four minutes later when Victor Osimhen calmly dispatched a penalty to level the scores at 2-2.
As the clock ticked down, the Nigerian superstar struck again in the 88th minute, firing home from close range to trigger scenes of delirium, before Kaan Ayhan added a fourth deep in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt.
The result meant Coach Okan Buruk had masterfully navigated a campaign defined by relentless pursuit from Fenerbahce, who have now finished as runners-up for five consecutive seasons. With this triumph, Buruk enters the record books as the first manager to win four straight Turkish titles with the same club.
The final whistle triggered celebrations that illuminated the Istanbul skyline with red and yellow flares, as thousands of supporters across the country took to the streets to celebrate a record 26th trophy with Galatasaray’s grip on the Süper Lig looking tighter than ever.
