ABUJA, Nigeria — Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has congratulated former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator Henry Seriake Dickson on his recognition as Politician of the Year by Leadership Newspaper.
Obi, in a post on his official X account, described Dickson as his “dear brother and leader” in what he referred to as the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). He said the award was a testament to Dickson’s years of service in politics and public administration, noting that the former governor’s experience spans party administration, the legislature, and the executive arm of government.
According to Obi, the recognition should encourage Dickson to deepen his commitment to building a political platform capable of providing Nigerians with the leadership needed to move the country forward.
“I believe this recognition is not only a testament to his years of service but will also further spur him to greater commitment as we work together towards building a political platform capable of offering Nigerians the leadership that is needed to move the country forward,” Obi said.
Obi again congratulated Dickson on what he described as a “well-deserved recognition” and expressed optimism about the country’s future. He ended the message with his familiar political slogan: “A New Nigeria is POssible and Nigeria will be OK.”
The congratulatory message comes amid continuing political realignments and efforts to build new political platforms ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
