Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called for closer collaboration with professional town planners to drive sustainable urban development, improve land administration, and ensure orderly growth across the state.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, made the call when a delegation of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), led by Vice President Prof. Kingsley Ogboli, paid a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Thursday, 2nd April 2026.

Governor Uba Sani said his administration has prioritised transparency in land allocation, strict enforcement of development control regulations, and orderly urban expansion. He added that the government is also investing heavily in infrastructure and urban renewal projects to improve the quality of life of citizens.

“We recognise that government cannot do this alone. We need the expertise, guidance, and partnership of professional bodies such as yours,” the governor stated.

He emphasised that the role of town planners in ensuring adherence to standards, building capacity, and promoting innovation is critical to achieving sustainable development outcomes.

Governor Uba Sani noted that his administration remains committed to both rural and urban development, with an ambitious infrastructure delivery plan currently underway. He urged the institute to continue providing expert advisory and technical support, especially on the impact of land use on social and economic development.

The governor recalled the longstanding relationship between Kaduna State and the NITP, noting that the state has had a development plan since 1913, supported by successive master plans and spatial development frameworks.

He further disclosed that Kaduna State has been selected as one of the pilot states for the World Bank-supported Nigerian Land Titling, Registration and Documentation Programme. A team from the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development recently visited the state to assess its land administration systems.

Governor Uba Sani assured the delegation that Kaduna State remains open to deeper collaboration with the NITP and the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria to build inclusive, safe, and economically vibrant cities and communities.
