NIGERIA — The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate and running mate to Peter Obi in the 2027 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed sadness over the death of Dr Adamu Mohammed Fika, CFR, Zaura Kura of Fika.
Kwankwaso, in a condolence statement, said he received the news of Fika’s death on Thursday, August 6, 2026, with sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
The former Kano State governor said he joined Fika’s family, friends, and associates at his funeral on Friday, August 7, to pay his final respects to the former senior parliamentary administrator.
A Defining Role in Nigeria’s Legislature
Fika served as the pioneer Director-General and Clerk Designate of the National Assembly before later becoming Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission.
According to Kwankwaso, Fika played a defining role in laying the administrative foundation of Nigeria’s legislature and contributed significantly to the development of the National Assembly as an institution.
Kwankwaso recalled that he had the privilege of working with Fika during the Third Republic, when he served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
He described the deceased as a “calm, disciplined and highly professional administrator” whose commitment to duty earned him the respect of colleagues and associates.
“Until his passing, he continued to serve the parliamentary community as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Council of Retired Clerks and Secretaries of the National Assembly, reflecting his lifelong dedication to the institution he helped to build,” Kwankwaso said.
Condolences and Prayers
The NDC vice-presidential candidate extended his condolences to Fika’s family, the people of the Fika Emirate, the Government and people of Yobe State, as well as the leadership and staff of the National Assembly.
He also condoled with members of the 1992–1993 National Assembly and Nigerians mourning the death of the former parliamentary administrator.
Kwankwaso said the condolences were conveyed on behalf of his family, the Kwankwasiyya Movement, members of the NDC, and his former colleagues in the 1992–1993 National Assembly.
He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive Fika’s shortcomings, admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family and loved ones the strength and patience to bear the loss.
“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family and loved ones the strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
